It was twelve years ago this month that the "old barn" was imploded. Just before sundown on Saturday, February 27th, 1999 that FOX2 broadcast the momentous event. They even placed a camera INSIDE The Arena to get a shot what it looked like to the legions of rats, cockroaches and pigeons that met their maker that chilly afternoon.

Bob Gaus has been the golf instructor at Tower Tee in south county for as long as I can remember. But in 1999 he got one of the biggest breaks of his life when he qualified for the US Open Tournament. The story was reported by KSDK's sometimes-"Breakfast Club"-sports-fill-in, Drew Smith, and introduced by what looks like an eleven year-old, Mike Bush.
